FlashFocus Terms of Service

Effective date: May 9, 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the FlashFocus mobile application and related services (“FlashFocus”, “the app”), published by codebynaci. By using FlashFocus you agree to these Terms.

1. Your Account

FlashFocus is intended for learners aged 13 and over. By creating an account you confirm that you are at least 13 years old. If we learn that an account was created by someone under 13, we will delete it.

You may use core studying features without an account. Account-gated features — Flash Credits, AI assistance, automatic cross-device sync, marketplace purchases, subscriptions, and head-to-head challenges — require you to create a free account and provide accurate information. You can sign up with email and password, with Google Sign-In, or with Apple Sign-In. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.

You can delete your account at any time from More → Security → Delete my account. Deletion permanently removes your profile, Flash Credits balance, subscription record, owned decks, and study history from our servers and the current device. This action cannot be undone.

You can also request a copy of the data we hold about you from More → Security → Download my data.

2. Flash Credits

Flash Credits are an in-app virtual currency used to unlock AI features and paid marketplace decks.

Welcome bonus — new accounts receive 20 Flash Credits as a one-time signup bonus.
Monthly refresh — active accounts receive 5 Flash Credits on the first of each calendar month.
Referrals — when a friend signs up using your referral code and reaches the qualifying activity threshold, you and your friend each receive 15 Flash Credits, up to the cap displayed in-app.
Purchasing — credit packs are available as one-time in-app purchases through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Pricing is shown at the point of purchase and may vary by region.
No cash value — Flash Credits have no monetary value, cannot be transferred between accounts or to other users, and are non-refundable except where required by law or by the applicable store’s refund policy.
Expiry — purchased credits do not expire while your account is active. Earned credits (signup bonus, monthly refresh, referral rewards, achievement rewards) may expire after a period we disclose at the time they are granted.
Failed AI calls — if an AI feature fails after credits have been deducted, we automatically refund the credits for that request.

We may adjust the credit cost of any AI feature with reasonable in-app notice. Existing balances are never reduced as a result of such an adjustment.

3. Subscriptions

FlashFocus offers an optional recurring subscription (“Pro”) that unlocks AI features without consuming Flash Credits and removes interstitial promotions. Subscriptions are billed through the applicable app store (Apple App Store or Google Play) and renew automatically at the price shown on the paywall, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.

You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time from your device’s subscription settings:

iOS — Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions
Android — Play Store → Profile → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions

Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Pro access until the end of the period you have already paid for.

The Pro subscription includes a soft usage cap of 300 AI chat messages per calendar month. Messages beyond this cap may cost 1 Flash Credit each. The current cap is shown in-app at the time of purchase and on the subscription management screen.

Refunds for in-app purchases and subscriptions are handled by the relevant app store under that store’s refund policy, not by us directly.

4. User-Created Content

FlashFocus lets you create flashcards, decks, and the media attached to them locally on your device. Your decks remain yours.

Local decks stay on your device unless you back them up using More → Backup & restore or, in a future update, sync them to your account.
Backup files (.flashfocus) are intended for moving your own decks between your own devices. They are not a sharing mechanism — when you import a backup, the app verifies that the file came from your account before merging.
Marketplace submissions — if you submit a deck to the public marketplace (a feature we may launch in a future update), you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, and distribute it to other FlashFocus users for as long as the submission remains published. You retain all other rights in your content.
Removal — we may remove marketplace submissions or decline a backup import if the content violates these Terms or applicable law.

You are responsible for ensuring that the content you create, back up, or submit does not infringe third-party rights (copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity) and does not contain unlawful, misleading, or harmful material.

5. AI-Generated Content

FlashFocus uses third-party large language models to generate explanations, weak-spot analyses, conversational tutoring, and AI-assisted deck content (deck-from-topic, deck-from-document, deck-from-image, deck-from-URL).

AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated. You should verify important information before relying on it, especially for exams, professional work, or medical, legal, or financial decisions.
We label AI-generated card sets in-app so you can tell them apart from human-authored material.
Your prompt content is sent to the AI provider only to fulfil your specific request and is subject to the provider’s data handling terms in addition to our Privacy Policy.
We do not use your personal account information to train third-party AI models, and our AI provider does not use API content sent through our backend to train its models.

6. Marketplace, Challenges, and Other Account Features

Marketplace — paid marketplace decks are unlocked with Flash Credits. Once unlocked, the deck is tied to your account and is available on every device where you sign in.
Head-to-head challenges — when you send or accept a challenge, your display name and challenge result are visible to the other participant. You can decline incoming challenges at any time.
Achievements, streaks, leaderboards — public-facing surfaces show your display name and avatar to other FlashFocus users you interact with. We do not publish your real name unless you have set it as your display name.
Exam mode — score reports are private to you. Sharing a score outside the app (for example, via the share sheet) is always your choice.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use FlashFocus to harass, defraud, or harm others
Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app
Abuse the Flash Credits system (for example, automated farming, chargeback fraud, or sharing referral codes via deceptive means)
Submit, back up, or share content that is illegal, infringing, or designed to deceive other users
Use FlashFocus output to train machine-learning models without our written permission
Circumvent device-level age controls or impersonate another person to create an account

We may suspend or terminate access to the app, including any unused Flash Credits, for serious or repeated violations of these rules.

8. Disclaimers

FlashFocus is provided “as is” and “as available.” We make no warranties about the app’s fitness for a particular purpose, uninterrupted availability, or the accuracy of any content (including AI-generated content). Studying with FlashFocus does not guarantee any particular exam result or learning outcome.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the app.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you in-app or by email at least 30 days before the change takes effect, unless a shorter notice period is required by law. Continuing to use FlashFocus after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
